Well, here I am again...trying to figure out a new name that will represent me for my creativity projects. Lose the Pounds

I've been thinking lately on how to get back in shape and practically lose some of the weight which i gained after having my 3rd child. Guess what? he is now 4 years old. I am seriously upset that i could not make a stable regime in managing my health. Two years back, i was such a gym buff and i can really see the difference from today's slacking off. My weight was 125 lbs! and i loved it...

So, now...I am recording this process in getting back into shape.
Here's where I weight at the moment
STarting weight --- 132 lbs.Goal weight ------- 122 lbs.
10 lbs. to lose!!!

This is making me nervous at the same time, I don't want to pressure myself. I would like to find joy and fun in this whole thing. If ever you stumble in this blog, please leave some inspirational message to help me keep going.

Color Inspiration

So, I am writing this as if i never missed any single day of blogging...
I am really not good at writing at all but I just like this site so much. It makes my picture looks great and call me narcistic but I did have some few nice images posted.

I'm definitely keeping this site even if no one reads or finds my blog.
This week, I've been obsessed in keeping updated with a very talented designer, Kristina Werner. She made the most delightful cards and few scrapbooking layout using as minimal materials as possible (I think). They looked streamline and neat, easy to the eyes...

Few days ago, i started participating in her online contest to win some scrap materials and even though I didn't win...i was happy that i tried anyway. She posted today a "color inspiration" challenge and i get excited because it's one of my few elements that i am interested in participating, photography. So, I chose the pink Flamingo in the greenish background with a brown highlites of the grass. I thought, this would make an interesting project for card making and or any scrapbooking layout using these colors. I know that people get to vote which of the images will be best suited for the challenge. But, i will go ahead anyway and see what i can do for this challenge using my own photo for color inspiration.

Imperia, Italy

Imperia is a coastal city and comune in the region of Liguria, Italy. It is the capital of the province of Liguria, and historically it was capital of the Intemelia district of Liguria.
The city of Imperia itself was created during the Mussolini era from two existing towns - Porto Maurizio and Oneglia and then raised to provincial administrative capital. Historic Porto Maurizio, built on a headland, claims to date from Roman times, while Oneglia which is situated in the valley of the Impero torrent is the business and industrial centre and has a more modern appearance. Tourism is still important today, but apart from flower growing, olive cultivation and oil pressing are important mainstays around the city of Imperia.

Saturday was our family time visiting my in laws in their small village of Chablais.

Lavey Village, Switzerland (VD)
Lavey is a village in the district of Aigle in the canton of Switzerland.
The place Lavey was first recorded in year 1016 as A Laver. In 1189 it was known as Laveto.
This is my husband's beloved hometown where he had so much fond memories.

We love coming over and having a fun time spending with the old folks and hanging out in their beautiful garden.

Since enrolling my photography class, i've been having so much energy taking pictures in every chances i get. Aside from my week's homework and projects, i just have so much enthusiasm with my new passion so i keep going with it. Here's one shot that i took, dramatic but inspiring. The sun sets but we know it will rise the next day with it's wonderful ray of shine.

The Swiss Vapeur Parc

Lies next to the lake harbour of Le Bouveret is the Swiss Vapeur Parc. It is our Saturday destination for family fun. It is one of Europe's most magnificent miniature railway layouts consisting a lovely 17000 sq. m park and dozens of steam locomotives. The place is like a dream for adults who is fascinated with this dreamful journey into the kingdom of railways. This was also a great discovery for little children.

Learning Photography

I finally enrolled a photography online class as i set up my goals in this hobby much higher. I found a lot of flaws to images i took (which doesn't matter to me really, because it is much more for family collection than anything else) for which i consider great in my novice eyes. Well, taking pictures of my family at their most candid moment is great but i am now challenging myself to try ways to better improve my basic knowledge. I just want to mention that while blogging, it inspired me as well to take photographs in whatever chances i could get; thus, getting absorbedly crazy in this hobby. I might be sharing some of the images i will be submitting to my class and see how you can critique or comment on the subject. Finally, my long and winding whine will slowly come to an end...or really? Will see next month as i progress to my journey in learning how to shoot creatively. Wish me the best...

Ticino Adventure

Ticino is the canton located in the southern part of Switzerland and their language is Italian. This is our second time visiting the area, only this time, we decided to stay in the town of Locarno for 4 days.

It takes about 4 hours of driving and a 20 minutes interesting ride on a train car. This train carry all the cars heading to the other side of the pass (Instead of taking the high road up the mountain which is close during winter time). On the way, we pass the town of Andermatt before going through the St. Gotthard tunnel (this is the third longest road tunnel in the world ). It runs from the north to Airolo in the south, and is just under 16.4 kilometres (10.5 miles) in length. This is our only entrance to Ticino during winter.

We arrived at our hotel in the late afternoon and the beautiful weather right away welcomes us . The hotel is superb (exceeds my expectation). After settling in, we took a short stroll along the quai and getting acquainted to it's surroundings and sights.

The following day, we decided to visit the town of Ascona and it's nearby town. Ascona lies in a spectacular sunny bay on Lake Maggiore. It’s one of the best loved and most exclusive tourist destinations in Switzerland. Then we drove up to the town of Ronco where one can check the vista point to have one of the best view of Lago Maggiore and the Brissago Islands. The end of the day was a short adventure of finding a "Grotto". Nothing is more typical for life in Ticino than the grottoes, simple taverns in quiet hideaway places, well in the shade of trees. They usually consist of a kitchen and a generous garden with solid granite tables and benches, where everybody sits in the coolness of the trees, drinking and eating the products of the local cuisine (such as the famous Polenta and Risotto ala Ticinese). It was so good!

The third day brought us to the center old town of Locarno. The "piazza grande" is where they hold the international film festival each year. There was a festival of Camilla in their park where various colors of Camillas were displayed. We checked the tourism office for some other interesting sights and places to see. We found the place we fancied, the Valle Versazca. The rest of the afternoon was an excursion going up the valley where the river runs wild with it's magnificient beauty. It was extremely spectacular.

Our last day was visiting the town of Bellinzone aka Bellinzona (The capital town of Ticino) before heading our way back to Vevey. It is a beautiful town with three castles. They said that it was its unique geographical position which made Bellinzona as the "key to the Alps" from the sourthern people (like Italy...) and from the north as the "key to Italy". Today, there are so much charm and beauty as you stroll the town. You can feel the old and rich history with each sights you see.

Happy Easter Everyone! Here is Easter Sunday hunt for this week's theme.

A giant metal fork in the lake (technically it is made of steel), one of the many fascinating architectural images in our town of Vevey.

This structure was displayed for the second time last 2007, situated directly across the Musée de l’Alimentation (Nestlé Alimentarium), a museum devoted to the history of food products. The fork was to be displayed only for one year to commenorate its 10th anniversary. It was supposedly taken down last January but I am glad the petition to keep it around was granted. I searched more online for some information about this work of art. Below is an excerpt from an online blogger, Peterblog.

"It spent the last ten years decorating the grounds of Berndorf Ltd, a Lucerne-based cutlery manufacturer, and is back to celebrate an exhibition of place settings at the Alimentarium. The poor fork was banished a few years after it was set up orignally, in contravention of some local regulation or other.
It is the work of Jean-Pierre Zaugg, and artist from Neuchâtel (on another big lake, curiously enough) and was made by Georges Favre in Vevey out of stainless steel."

It still stands until now and you will see the different view of this metal sculpture when you walk along the quai perdonnet in whatever time of the year.

We just got back from our long weekend vacation and I am organizing my photos taken during the trip for posting. I know it will be another long week of absence for me as I am currently occupied with my family and the holy week vacation.

Our family went to the town of Avenches. It is also renown for its Rock Festival, Musical Parade and especially the IENA, a unique 140 hectares Equestrian Sports Center. Europe's first multidisciplinary hippodrome intended as a place of both work and leisure. The pictures above where taken in the Roman theatre in Avenches. Avenches is built on the site of the Roman town Aventicum, which was the most important in Switzerland.

6 Quirky Things about myself

Here is mine

1. I brush my hair only every after taking a shower (I do take showers almost everyday).

2. I keep a "Malong" (a tubular piece of cloth, ethnic to south of the Philippines) for my comfort. It's like my baby blanket, anywhere in the house i meticulously tuck my feet to its comfort level whenever i am resting.

3. Whenever i see a baguette and coca cola in a glass, it's a must for me to dip my bread on the soda before taking the bite. It taste good.

4. At a the bar, i asked for beer and coke mix. Apparently, no one has it? they give me a quirky look as well.

5. I hid all of my baby teeth on a young coconut tree. (The tree is now tall, need an expert to climb it)

6. I read loud in the bathroom (secret revealed! you will too, if you study the French language). I make sure no one is around who doesn't understand this.

So, i have to tag Lucille, Amy, Liza, Malyn, Lily and Carlota.

I should have posted this entry lastnight but i fall asleep way too early than my usual hours (I am a nightowl). There's nothing unusual to write just some few rants about this and that...will not go through all the details really. I just feel like my blog right now is all about posting pictures since I am not that gifted with writing. I will officially say that pictures can speak more words than I can. As i said in my previous entries (old blogs), I have trouble keeping up my site. I need a push, a kick or a good spanking (the last one is the last resort). So, what is the point of todays post? Nothing really; just making sure I can still type it out.

I took this picture last year in between summer and autumn. The flowers were all set in this interesting wooden structure. In fact, this used to be a living tree! Unfortunately cut, but carved and decorated with flower pots to enjoy the other side of its beauty.

Visiting Bern

Bern the capital of Switzerland is also a Canton, BE (State). It is about an hour from our town and the language spoken is a Swiss German dialect (totally different from High German). I will not go through the details about it's political info etc., just search it online if you are interested to know more about the place. We decided to take Saturday as our leisure day to stroll the town. First stop is to find our favorite restaurant. Just look at the pictures for the food we chose to eat that day.

When everyone was happy and energized, we went for a little window shopping while crossing the old town. In between stop was my fascination with the fountains. They are all over the places. Like any of my excursion, i must take photos regardless of what...Just for a bit of information, Bern is also the city known for its fountains. There are probably 100 or more of them in the city and what few i found in the old center town have a very powerful images. Here are some of the fountains.

The Ryfflibrunnen

Brunnen is the German word for fountain. As much as I would like to share the perspective by taking the entire image of the fountain but, obviously failed, I can however give you a measurement of its actual size for the fountain, including statue, column, and basins. Each fountain probably reaches about 15 feet (roughly 4.5 meters) in height, with the statue being nearly life-size.

Here is myself taking a pose with my children with the armor standing guard over the city fountain, and another smaller bear between his legs eating some grapes.

The Simsonbrunnen

This fountain shows the biblical story of Samson and the Lion. Apparently this fountain was paid for by the butcher's guild. It is easy to see why they would chose this image to represent their trade.

The ChindlifresserbrunnenMy favorite although it is a bit graphic and all, the Chindlifresserbrunnen (Child-Eating-Ogre-Fountain). The Chindlifresser is kind of like the Swiss boogey-man. I was a bit afraid and worried that Calvin might have a nightmare from looking at this fountain. I didn't dig on the history about this fountain (yet) but it is really strange that the people of Bern do not seem to be too fazed by this image of cannibalistic infanticide.

After what seems to be a walk of eternity, we ended crossing the bridge to our final destination. To see the famous bears. Which is literally the mascott of the town.

Just a bonus picture on our way to see the bear. I am still not sure if this is a real person posing a yoga. We had a debate with the children about it. Still continues to talk about it on our way home. It was a great day. I hope your Saturday was a fun one as well.

2. you've ever been confused with a Swede
3. you laugh when Americans believe that Swiss Miss is a Swiss product, but then have no clue that Nestlé and Rolex ARE
4. you get frustrated if you go grocery shopping abroad and there aren't at least 10 different kinds of chocolate and 15 kinds of cheese available
5. you have learned three to four languages and think this is completely normal
6. you have ever been asked - upon stating your nationality - whether you live in the mountains and whether you can yodel
7. you can pronounce "Chuchichäschtli" and you know what it means
8. you have ever been asked who the president of Switzerland is and then failed miserably trying to explain why you've lost track
9. you know what "Röschti" are and you have crossed the "Röschtigrabe" at some point
10. you went to a state-funded ski camp every year with your classmates in high school
11. to you, skis are like the extensions of your feet, because you've skied since you could walk
12. you are amused when people ask you what language is spoken in your home country and/or you have to explain that "Swiss" is not a language, that there are four national languages and none of them is called "Swiss"!

14. you've ever seen "Sandmännchen" dubbed into Romansch
15. as a female, you give all your friends three kisses on the cheeks as a greeting
16. you love Migros and you swear that some of their products are better than anything you've ever seen elsewhere
17. you've ever been asked by your non-Swiss friends to intervene in a fight and used "hey, I'm Swiss" as an excuse not to
18. your country has six different public television channels in three different languages - and you don't think this is unusual
19. you get amused when you see Swiss German people being subtitled on German television
20. you firmly believe it is more important to do things accurately than to do them quickly
21. you were legally allowed to drink beer and wine at the age of sixteen
22. you walked to kindergarten without supervision, wearing a large orange triangle around your neck
23. you think it's normal that everyone has a bunker underneath their house, or is registered for one of the public bunkers under the school building, for emergency situations... by the way, here's a fun thing to do: invite over some of your foreign friends (Americans make very good candidates) and take a picture of the look on their face when they SEE the bunker. Priceless!
24. when being asked to explain how certain things work in your country, you have to use the phrase "it differs for each canton, so..."
25. you are asked to vote on a "Referendum" or "Initiative" at least 3 or 4 times a year
26. you are used to drinking from any public fountain in the street unless there is a warning sign that says "no drinking water"
27. you grew up believing all cows must wear bells
28. you think that driving somewhere for four hours is a hell of a long time
29. you get slightly irritated or at least confused if your foreign visitors ask to see a chocolate factory
30. you know what Betty Bossi books and products are and have bought one
31. you know someone that collects the tin foil lids from coffee cream tubs
32. you don't see where the problem is when every male citizen who has been to the army has an assault rifle under his bed
33. you have to pay twice the price for museum entries because you're not a citizen of the EU, although you live in Europe!
34. you are in a non-European country and can hear people talking Swiss German and just go up and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger
35. no matter how much of a "bad-ass" you think you are, you will still pick up your candy wrapper off the floor if an old lady asks you too
36. you think everything is cheap abroad compared to Swiss prices!

I had fun reading this while posting, but it is true. This is to all of my Swiss family and friends. And, for my friends who need to know who the Swiss are.

How was your day?

I spent my afternoon with my daughter shopping in Lausanne. I was so happy that at the last minute she decided to come with me. It was our day spending not only "money" but bonding time, the girl way. We took the train and had some drinks at Starbucks before heading to our tour. After almost 3 hours we went back to the train station and met Daddy. We all went home together. Later, i had to dress up and get ready. My dear husband reserved us a romantic Valentine dinner in "Mai Thai". It was a five course meal with accompanying wine (various on each service). Arrived at 7:30 pm, got seated, taken care of and had the rum with fruit cocktail for apperitiff. The St. Valentine menu was superb! (forgot the menu list) It was a fusion of Thai with the French touch. I just adore it. Patrick and I had a superb talk in between the course and what seems like a short time actually ends up by midnight. We went back home after having the tea. We both agreed that the night was a very special one, too bad, we also both knew that we could no longer stay in town to party much longer. (Aging? haha) Until next year.

After almost 3 years of inactive participation in our annual family skiing trip, I finally find myself kicking to slide the snowy hills of Les Paccots. The resort is about 20 minutes from where we live and it is just a small family winter recreation. I was so stressed and nervous thinking I will make such a huge mess with my big come back! Luckily for me, having a husband like Patrick is a wonderful blessing. He was the most patient and gentle teacher supporting me in everyway. The first hour thought to be crucial was a walk in the park afterall. Skiing once learnt is like learning how to bike. Even if you idle for awhile, the skill is within us. It is only a matter of time and practice to get back the confidence. I could never imagine myself having such a good time with my children in the slopes today. Almost 5 hours of fun and a good hour of rest was just the therapy I needed to officially get my feet back on the slopes. I am loving it so much! Can't wait for the next big snowfall...

Hey, glad you made it here to my site.
It may look easy once we read or visited our friend's blog and all, but I find it really takes dedication and effort to do this. Maintaining is an issue for me, keeping up your site so visitors will have something to look forward once they come by. I tried several occasion to posts an entry and after seems like ages for the next one. So, here I am again. I just hope that this will be my last attempt for beginnings...As busy as i thought i could be, perhaps writing once in a while about anything will be therapeutic.
